Meet Mohammed

Proud Rochdalian, Mohammed Ali, has been appointed as one of a new team of customer advisers at our flagship branch.

Having always worked in finance, most recently as a senior fraud investigator, Mohammed took a career break to care for his parents before applying for us new role with us.

This is his first frontline customer service positive and he's looking forward to meeting customers and helping them face-to-face in the three-storey branch on 74 King Street in Manchester City Centre when it opens.

Mohammed is currently training on our systems, understanding the ways of working with customers in-person, and also helping with voluntary work in the community, which is an important commitment for Manchester Building Society.

Growing up in Ramsay, central Rochdale, Mohammed attended Heybrook Primary School and then Balderstone Technology College, which has since closed.

Mohammed said:

"What I love about growing up and living in Rochdale is the sense of community, the family values and a drive for a better financial future. It's this attitude that really attracted me to Manchester Building Society and I'm looking forward to getting out and about in Rochdale as part of the Society's ambition to build strong community connections. I think it's great that we have a commitment to supporting financial services and high streets in the boroughs across Greater Manchester, when you hear about so many branches of financial institutions closing down. It's good to know we're bucking that trend.

What's also great about Rochdale are the historic links to the Industrial Revolution and Co-operative movement, as this town has always strived to move forward and prosper. The scenic walks around Hollingworth Lake and many reservoirs are stunning and we have amazing views at Healey Dell Nature Reserve, which I'll be able to enjoy at weekends on my days off now I'll be going into the city centre everyday."

Mohammed is hoping to have a long career with Manchester Building Society, but his priority is to be a valued ambassador for the business and to succeed in his customer adviser role. The branch at King Street will offer free, flexible events and collaboration spaces for local groups and charities, a welcoming space for people and communities to come together and build a better financial future.
