Stronger, together

Manchester Building Society is part of the Newcastle Building Society group and that’s good news for Greater Manchester.

We’re Manchester, built from the ground up with local people and local pride. But we’ve got the backing of a mutual that’s been getting it right and making a difference in the North East for over 165 years.

We’re bringing savings, mortgages and access to financial advice for all back to Greater Manchester. Real people. Real face-to-face conversations. Real financial support.

More members mean more financial strength. More communities mean greater impact.

Proving that doing well and doing good go hand in hand.

Why choose Manchester Building Society?

Whether you’re saving for a rainy day, thinking about the next generation or planning for retirement, we’re here to help. We help you save, and those savings help us grow. So it’s only right that some of that growth comes back your way. And into the communities around you through our partnership with charities like Forever Manchester and EMPOWER Youth Zones, investing in grassroots projects across all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester.

Forever Manchester

Forever Manchester is the only charity that raises money to fund and support community activity across Greater Manchester. They fund and support over 1,300 community projects each year, such as mental health support groups, disability groups, junior football teams, food banks, refugee support networks, and knit & natter groups.

We've already pledged an initial £100,000 funding donation to Forever Manchester to fund grants that largely focus on financial literacy and employability, so that Forever Manchester can support people in every borough on their journey into financial wellbeing and meaningful work.

Every pound saved with us has the potential to help create lasting local impact.

EMPOWER Youth Zones

EMPOWER Youth Zones provide children and young people with somewhere safe to go, something positive to do and someone trusted to talk to.

Through their Youth Zones, EMPOWER provides state-of-the-art facilities, engaging activities, and opportunities for young people to build friendships, develop new skills, unlock their potential, and most importantly, have fun.

Our donation of £100,000 is already helping fund sports, music, arts and crafts activities seven days a week at their newest hub, Salford Youth Zone (SYZ). We are also actively working with EMPOWER to help young people understand the ins and outs of money and develop the kind of skills that will help them get jobs in the future.

Being member-owned means profits are re-invested for the benefit of our members and their communities. Your savings help us to fund local projects like this.
